MANHATTAN?

On and off I get the question. How do you make the songs? How do you go about it? And I answer... It's different. Some times I start with...... and what ever was the way that the latest song came about. So they look a little, a little.... unsatisfied, the ones that asked.
This is how it looks when I tried it out just after waking up. And after finding out the second chord. The "Manhattan" was added to the post it note in the evening.
Actually I asked myself the same as a started to write songs. How do they do it? All the big ones. All the Eltons, all the Freddies, all the Robbies, all the Parsons, Wakemans, Porcaros, Glennmarks and Rachmaninovs. All those who write the wonderfull songs I love. So I read about them and looked at all the documentarys I could find. And... yes?.... no... there is no way it seemes. It's different depending who you ask or what songs you discuss. For me too.
So. I woke up early, much to early, a morning just a few days ago. And in my head, still lying in my bed, I could almost hear a song. Notes, backingvocals, drums and everything. And I did not recognise it. So when I got out of bed I tried it on the guitar. Most of the times this, songs in the middle of the night thing, happens it turns out that the melody or sound is kind of dreamy and is not playable in real life, or out of the dream. But this one was. And I found the chords on the guitar quickly. The second cord I thought was the same as the firts one but it sounded odd. So i tried an ohther one and it sounded... odd. But it was at least somewhere in between them. After a while I found out. It was a C with a G in the bass. Or rather it was a Cadd9 with G in the bass. Cadd9/G as it's written.
During the workday that followed I had the song in my head. And some words and a sentence kind of appeared. So by 4 o'clock it had a name. "Manhattan". I don't know if it ever will become as song, or even a demo but I decided to let you follow the work on this song. If you want to. So this is what's happend so far. And I'v tried it on the guitar a couple of time and it works. But I don't know if it's any good. Tomorrow we will be recordning the first tracks of a new song with Forsberg Wilson & Muller and I'll try the song "Manhattan" with them. Usually they will tell me to my face what they think. So if they are positive, maybe this post will have a follow up.
Will see. And we will see what Öjje (Forsberg) says. He knows everything music, and I mean everything, so he will hear if it's just something I'v stolen. Cause it can be hard to find out. And the verse sounds a little as a ABBA song. Hmm.......
