THE EPICENTER OF THINGS

Germany. I'm on vacation with my darling and backline singer Åsa. And we made our way to Bamberg. A beautiful very old UNESCO World heriatge town. Just before we left Sweden my friend said: "- I alway's put a day or two in the Thomann store, it's just amazing!".
Thomann is the super big and very professional webstore you problably all know already. But they have a superstore or super showroom for all their products. Yeah, all of them. So I looked it up. Treppendorf. And ... just 15 km from Bamberg! Whoaw! New itinerary for our tripp. "-We have to visit Treppendorf" I told .. not asked ... told, Åsa. So we did.
When entering the very little village of Treppendorf you pass the warehouses, administration and logistic center of Thomann. All modern and big. But the store/showroom is down in the village. In a couple of small houses that dosen't look big from the outside. But it is. I only had 5-6 hours there and it's not enought. Not enought. They have everything, and a big choise of sizes and brands of everything. It really is the epicenter of thing .... at least for us musicians. Give it a visit!
Actually, I was rather frustrated. Just 5 hours. Not enought. I kinda felt like a five year old with a 2 Euro coin in my hand when entering a big candy store. How, just how should I, could I, spend it? I mean this is a conflict of mind. A big one! Same with me. 5 hours - Thomann superstore.... no. I decided it needs a trip of it's own. So I left just a little frustrated. But I know I could be really happy there. Really happy. I just know it!
Anyway I looked around, took the time I had. Spending it among Oboes, Saxophones and Sousaphones. Around studio monitors, lighting and mixerboads. Around concert grand pianos and didgeridoos. Thing you dont often see. So when I finally came to basses and guitars it was late. But I found Marcus Miller basses. Not pricy but they felt super nice to handle, looked very well built and was a joy to play. Well balanced, even the J ones. Never seen them before.
The basses and guitars are in a doubble hight room with a large mezzanine. Rolling ladders along the walls to get up to all the guitars. A lot of knowledgeable staff to help you to reach them and demonstrate. If you buy, you go to the logistics centre to pic things up. And then have a coffe to wind down in the nice and large café. There they have a Hagström Viking guitar signed by the swedish super group Mando Diao. Epic!
Åsa and I have continued our European journey and are now in Innsbruck, Austria. But... again .... The Thomann superstore need's more time. So......... I'll be back!
